Popups
If you don't like *Popups then chances are you've got something set up on your computer (a popup stopper) to block them.
By default Skye-Net shows the web-sites you pick in a new browser window so that Skye-Net is still available in the background. A popup stopper may prevent this from happening.
To make Skye-Net show web-sites in the same window just untick the popups? box at the top of the page.
     * new browser windows launched by the site you're visiting, usually very annoying adverts.

Searching
A Skye-Net search inspects data in our database: web-site title, category, keywords and (sometimes) description.
Skye-Net searches are AND searches. Put simply this means that a search for "fish tank" will only give you sites with the words "fish AND tank" held in the database. We think this is more useful than giving you all the "fish tank" sites, "fish" sites & "tank" sites.
Start by searching for one word and, if you get a lot of results, then add another search word. eg "Hotel" & "Hotel Portree".
To see all sites, just search for nothing.

'based on' or 'linked to'
The majority of sites on Skye-Net are 'based on' Skye. By default these are the sites that Skye-Net searches and displays.
A few extra sites are stored in our database because they have very close links with Skye, like the band 'Runrig' or the ferry company 'CalMac', but aren't actually based on Skye. If you want to include these extra sites in your results then change the drop down list to 'linked to'.

Tab Searches
Skye-Net has included tabs for quick searches.
Placename: show all sites located in this place.
A-Z,0-9: show all sites starting with a certain letter or number.
Category: show all sites of a particular type.

Results
Skye-Net results are only ordered by sponsor level & then alphabetically. We don't show sponsors unless they match your search.
Searches are not ordered by quality, quantity or any other 'ity. Search for 'Fish' and the first result isn't necessarily more 'Fish' than the last result, but all results will relate to 'Fish'.
